Meet Will

Director, Boise

Starting as a GIS programmer without a computer science degree, Will grew into the Boise Director at Resource Data, thanks to a culture that fosters initiative, creativity, and mentorship. He thrives in an environment where employees are trusted to shape their careers and embrace challenges. “We may not be experts in a technology, but we’re experts at learning,” he says, reflecting the company’s focus on adaptability. A career highlight was supporting a major oil spill response, providing 24/7 GIS support and collaborating with multiple agencies to solve real-time problems. During one intense shift, he witnessed the leak being plugged—a rewarding moment of teamwork and impact.

Outside of work, Will enjoys life in Boise through music, travel, and sports. He plays in two bands—Danger Beard and Willie and the Singlewides—and loves snowboarding and hockey, a sport sparked by childhood memories of The Mighty Ducks. Whether performing or recruiting hockey players, Will finds joy in every part of his journey.

    Lead Business Analyst Boise, ID

Since Fran joined Resource Data, she’s enjoyed the autonomy to shape her work and contribute meaningfully every day, something hard to find in other companies. The ability to collaborate with leaders and employees makes tasks enjoyable for her. One project that stood out for her was building an AI solution for Epic Charter Schools to validate student enrollment documents. It combined two things she loves: learning new technologies and diving into unfamiliar domains.

Outside of the tech world, Fran is a maker in the truest sense. Her creative time is filled with woodworking, bookmaking, fabric arts, papier mâché, and nearly any medium she can get her hands on. She also runs a monthly Kids’ Makers Workshop, where young creators explore tools, materials, and ideas with adult coaching. For Fran, it’s all about empowering others to build confidence and curiosity through hands-on making.

    GIS Lead Boise, Idaho,

Ryan enjoys the culture at Resource Data—coworkers are genuinely helpful, and everyone is treated with respect. The flexibility and support for work-life balance are a big part of why he stays. One of his most rewarding projects involved developing a custom web mapping application that went beyond typical configuration tools. Being able to design custom business logic gave him a chance to solve problems in a more creative and technical way, which he found especially fulfilling.

He spends his time off with his kids, going outdoors, reading, exercising, and hitting the road on his motorcycle or in his car. A few years ago, he picked up drumming, adding a new rhythm to his routine. What he values most about where he lives is how close he is to family—visits are just a short drive away.

    David Strickon

    Data Engineer Boise, Idaho,

Dave joined Resource Data excited about the opportunity to apply his data engineering skills for clients with a natural resource focus, especially those in the Northwest.  He appreciates the work-life balance that remote work provides.  Dave finds his current project both fascinating and challenging, but the best part is collaborating with the client’s team and the reward of seeing directly how improved data engineering and analysis makes a difference to them.

Outside of work, Dave enjoys kayaking and his friends and family in and around Kitsap County, WA – the natural side of Puget Sound.  When the summer days are long and the sun rises early Dave usually gets in a morning paddle on Liberty Bay before logging in for work.  He also serves as a Planning Commissioner for the city of Poulsbo where they just completed their latest comprehensive plan.  In the neighborhood Dave helps keep an eye on the older folks, participates in the disaster preparedness group and drinks beer with his friends.
