From whale-watching and kayaking, to challenging hikes and outdoor photography — there is plenty of adventure nearby. No matter what the season brings, you’ll find our team enjoying the best of Alaska. Here, the work-life balance is second to none—we encourage each other to take time away from our desks and explore all that Juneau has to offer.

Whether it’s supporting the maintenance and enhancements to the system that disburses the PFD, or building an industry-leading fisheries management system, our projects support the very organizations making Juneau and Alaska a great place to live. We work for many Alaska government departments, the biggest names in oil and gas in the state, fisheries organizations, utilities, and more.

Juneau, the capital of Alaska, is a city that charms with its breathtaking beauty. Surrounded by mountains and water, it’s a paradise for nature enthusiasts, providing ample opportunities for hiking, kayaking, and whale-watching.
The city also offers rich cultural experiences, from the Alaska State Museum to the Sealaska Heritage Center and unique offerings like the Glacier Gardens Rainforest Adventure and mine tours. Combine this with a welcoming community and you have the perfect blend of adventure and tranquility.

Meet Ariel
Director, Juneau
Ariel’s impressive resume spans over 20 years in information technology and project management. During her 10 years as a leader within Resource Data, she has risen from a senior project manager to shareholder, to director of sales and marketing, and Juneau Director.
She received her MBA from the University of Alaska and has earned certifications for project management, organizational change management, Scrum Master, and ITIL. She is a proven leader, experienced in managing change while remaining results- and employee-focused.

Now that he’s been in the IT field for over a decade, he gets a kick out of his extremely intelligent and helpful coworkers and the variety of work he gets to do at Resource Data’s Juneau branch. In his free time, he typically heads outside with his family to enjoy the amazing skiing, hiking, or boating that Juneau has to offer, or plays board games.

Sr. Programmer Juneau, AKFor Jon, working for Resource Data’s Juneau branch means he gets to use his technical skills doing interesting work, learn from other top-notch developers, and enjoy a great work-life balance, all while living in a place as beautiful as Alaska. He likes catching up with coworkers or playing a quick game of ping pong in the office, but also appreciates the option to work remote from home if life gets a little crazy. When he’s not flexing his programming skills for clients like the State of Alaska, there’s a good chance he’s outdoors, hiking, biking, hanging out with his family, or throwing plastic at chains to indulge his unhealthy addiction to disc golf.

Rachel Kelly
Director Juneau, AKAfter graduating with a geology degree, Rachel worked in the mining industry where she was first exposed to GIS (Geographic Information Systems). After a few seasons of roughing it in mining camps, a career in IT was calling her name. She joined Resource Data in 2014 as an intern and honed her programming, project management, analysis, and natural leadership skills on a wide range of projects before taking on branch leadership in 2021.
In her free time, you can find Rachel outdoors, hiking or on a fat-tire bike, exploring the amazing trails and public-use cabins around Juneau that she says set her town apart from other outdoorsy communities. She loves running into her co-workers on the docks on a sunny summer day, on the slopes after a good snow, or at the frisbee golf course. She also enjoys tending her garden, which has slowly taken over her backyard.

Technical Lead Juneau, Alaska,Erik is based out of the Juneau office, having originally moved to Alaska to build a yurt on a remote mountain property. He is currently learning to chainsaw mill logs so he can finally build a proper outhouse.
As a Resource Data employee, Erik appreciates the freedom to manage his own work/life balance, the friendly, helpful company culture, and the opportunities for interesting work. His favorite project with us so far was building an aerial drone remote sensing program which managed the flow and automation of large quantities of drone data.
When not processing 3D models, photogrammetry, and LiDAR to solve business problems, Erik likes to spend time in the wild landscapes of Alaska and the Yukon, mountaineering, exploring, biking, hunting, jet boating, and snowmachining. He volunteers with the Haines Avalanche Center, which allows him to keep the community safe while also getting a chance to have fun in the mountains.
