In Brief
Guidon Energy, a large oil and gas company, required a GIS system to efficiently create and share maps, apps, and data among various user groups. Resource Data implemented the GIS system, geodatabase, and user interface in just seven days, enabling users to view and access data through custom map viewers.
Challenge
As a premier oil and gas company in the Midland Basin Area of Texas, Guidon Energy needed a system to share vital geographic information about their assets with multiple parties. Though they had an in-house GIS Analyst, they required assistance in establishing the enterprise GIS backbone and Esri’s ArcGIS Online for Organizations.
Guidon Energy targeted several key objectives with the implementation of ArcGIS Online. One was to administer user roles, security, and content settings, ensuring a secure and structured environment for all users. Second, they aimed to present a professional user interface and printed map to enhance the overall visual presentation. Lastly, they sought to configure custom web apps that were specifically tailored to meet the needs of individual user groups, allowing for a more personalized user experience.
Solution
Resource Data led and executed a seven-day ArcGIS Online and Server kickstart, setting up:
- ArcGIS Server: To manage GIS web services and applications
- SDE Geodatabase: For data storage and management
- ArcGIS Online for organizations: To create and share maps, apps, analytics, and data
By the end of the kick-start, Guidon had a flexible GIS enterprise system with content and custom web map templates, enabling them to create and share apps with internal and external user groups, and to print maps using ArcGIS Online with layoutsto ArcGIS Desktop.
With Resource Data’s help, we achieved all our goals in an efficient and cost-effective way. Doing this work completely in-house would not only have taken much longer than seven days, but would have also pulled us away from other vital business activities. We look forward to working with Resource Data again on other projects.
